Our curriculum at the Silo Center Preschool is both developmentally and age appropriate for each child. It is designed to foster all areas of development: cognitive, social, emotional, verbal, physical, as well as spiritual. We use guidelines consistent with criteria set forth by the NAEYC (National Association for Education of Young Children). Our qualified teachers and staff are trained to respond to your child’s emerging interests to encourage his/her curiosity and wonder within a safe environment that allows them to explore and discover.
Simply put….Our goal is to love your children, nurture their natural ability to learn and help them to play well with others.

Each week all classes attend “Kids’ Church” together for a lively, interactive time of worship and praise. The teachers are encouraged to integrate that story or use any other Bible stories in their daily activities. We pray before snack and lunch. All the teachers and teacher‘s aides are Christians from varying denominations. They are comfortable with teaching that God created us and loves us all and that Jesus is God's son. A relaxed and natural reference to God's teachings will be a normal part of our everyday practice.
In addition to the classroom activities, each day includes other special emphasis such as Music & Movement, Kids Church & Science Club. We have special theme days planned, such as our very own pumpkin patch and hayride, a puppet show and a farm day, in lieu of field trips off campus. Other celebrations, some traditional, others only known to our preschool world of fantasy, add much anticipation to the school year. All fees for special activities are covered by your Registration Fee.
Orientation will be Thursday, September 6 from 9:30 – 11:45. You will be notified more specifically, in your August letter, the staggered start times for different ages, to accommodate parents with more than one child in the program. The first day of preschool for all classes is Tuesday, September 11th, 9:00-1:00.
Weather closings follow that of Fairfax County School System. Emergency weather conditions that call for a change in school hours will be announced on television channel 21 and radio stations.
